We are a small, but dedicated group carrying on the intentions of the Society’s 1976 founders, that is to preserve Limington’s heritage through ancestral research, story telling, and artifact preservation.
Ancestral inquiries are welcome any time of the year. We utilize, in part, Robert L. Taylor’s genealogy and history collection regularly, a resource shared with Limington’s Davis Memorial Library.
Artifact donations provide a basis for story telling while walking through each of our four buildings on Joe Webster Road. Whether it is the town’s first library, a locally constructed lumber camp, a blacksmith’s shop, or our main building, donations help to explain our past and are appreciated.
Oral story telling is an important part of the Society’s history. Formal programs of the early years provided a forum for community members to come together to learn and reminisce. Today, our summer open houses afford opportunity for people to gather and share remembrances or tour our buildings. Our Facebook page allows us to convey historic nuggets in written form.
